What am I, if not with you?

Could you tell me who I am to you?

Am I a pen you write your story with, 

Or a road you travel to be friends with?

A paintbrush, a towel or a shovel

Old, young or very novel?

Who am I, not afraid

Who am I, may be prayed

Who am I, may be science 

Who am I, the quiet grapevines 

I am the courage you’re not afraid to show,

the prayer you whisper when lights are low,

the reason threading through your chaos,

the silence where your thoughts can grow.

If not these, I may be someone 

Who you'll cherish someday as one

Of those you knew well 

Had conversations time can't tell

A moment that stayed, then slipped from view

I am a day you cannot chew!
